My favorite time of the year is fast approaching. After a yearlong of having some rift with my only sister, i think this christmas will be on my most memorable christmas list (maybe it'll be on the top of the list).

We celebrate christmas according to our traditions and cultures, and i would like to share to you how we do it here in the Philippines, we have Simbang Gabi or Misa de Gallo (a spanish word for "midnight mass "or "rooster's mass"). Simbang gabi or Misa de Gallo lasts up to nine days, it'll start at the dawn of Dec. 16 and will end on Dec. 24. Simbang gabi or Misa de Gallo is one tradition of the Filipino people in accordance to the birth of Christ, some people also believe that if you finish the whole 9 days of Simbang gabi, you can make a wish. One thing that makes Simbang Gabi and Misa de Gallo so special aside from hearing the mass and showing your devotions to God and the Blessed Mary is that when the mass is over you can find food stalls outside the church selling traditional filipino foods like puto bumbong ( a rice pasty with purple coloring grated with coconut and brown sugar), my personal favorite, bibingka ( flour and egg cakes cooked on top and under ), tsokolate (hot cocoa), salabat ( ginger tea).

Thinking about Christmas gives me warm feeling inside, i just wish everyone to have a wonderful yuletide season and that whatever traditions and cultures we observe, let's not forget the people around us who is not fortunate enough, it's time for us to give and share, Christmas is the time of sharing and giving....
